Public campaign for New River Valley passenger train service announced

A new public campaign to expand passenger train service to the New River Valley is underway.

Diverse public and private groups from the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford metro area formed a task force 17 months ago, and Tuesday that committee launched its public campaign, according to the Roanoke Times.

According to the article leaders of the campaign are convinced that our region is primed for rail and will support it.

Calling itself “New River Valley Rail 2020,” the group hopes to convince the state to pay to extend passenger rail service to “the largest urban concentration west of Roanoke.  The campaign invites the public to compete a survey to help evaluate the market for the passenger service.   You may access the survey here.
